Just had a visit from BFF & her hubby. She's about 2 months more pregnant than I am and last night she let me hold her belly until her "little buddy" kicked. I have to say, that blew me away to the point that it brought tears to my eyes. Right through her tummy was a little kick that felt almost like a pen clicking. Hard to describe other than very wee and very amazing. I clearly need to get used to the idea of that happening to me.
My regular tee shirts are riding up to about belly button level so I invested in some maternity tees this past weekend. They're a bit longer and allow for the bump. But the purchase worth mentioning is that at Target they sell these things called BeBands that are essentially Spanx-type numbers that keep your pre-pregnancy jeans on without being buttoned or keep too-big maternity pants from falling down. Can you say lifesaver? I am wearing one now and can attest to their effectiveness. $16.99 well spent.
Other than that, not too much new. I found that Topper's pizza is just as good without the evil sauce. I'm tired of being constipated but I do pee less in the middle of the night. And best of all? My sister-in-law is 99.9% sure she is pregnant now too so our babies will be super close in age. Too cute! Cousins!
Here's what babycenter.com has to say for 17 weeks:
Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about the size of a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.
